Dawn and twilight are my preferred times to shoot. The light is dim, even, soft and mostly without shadow, enabling slow exposures that create serene imagery. Overcast skies during the day can provide the same effect - the clouds are a natural soft-box. It's rare that I'll shoot long after sunrise or before sunset. At the edge of light. That's my time to shoot.
